What I saw, what I learnt, and why I’d go back in a heartbeat

As you’ve probably figured out by now, I’m completely in love with guinea pigs. From their tiny squeaky voices to their quirky personalities, what’s not to adore? Call me biased, but I genuinely couldn’t imagine life without them. So of course, National Guinea Pig Day is the perfect excuse to celebrate these little bundles of joy.

As a McLaren fan, this weekend’s race at Silverstone was intense. Supporting both Lando and Oscar is a rollercoaster of emotions, and trying to pick who you want to cross the finish line first is like asking a parent to choose their favourite child. But at the British Grand Prix, it was only logical who would get the loudest support — and it’s important they learn to share. You can’t win every time.

As a millennial who’s officially graduated from the wild party phase (don’t worry, I still enjoy nights out that don’t involve a strict 9 pm bedtime), I find myself drawn to new hobbies that help keep me somewhat sane. Spoiler alert: “somewhat sane” is the key phrase here.

Like many other Formula 1 fanatics, I’ll be making my annual pilgrimage to the British Grand Prix at the end of June. This year marks my fourth visit to Silverstone — and yes, while the ticket prices made my eyes water (I definitely didn’t rush to buy them this time!), the undeniable pull of our local track was just too hard to resist.

Ah yes, walking. It’s good exercise and apparently great for our mental health—at least, that’s what we’re told. Personally, I quite enjoy going for long walks... just not on the beach. Once I’ve braved the swarms of insects and bees dive-bombing me at every opportunity—and after the runny eyes and sniffly nose have settled—I do enjoy a brisk stroll.
